What SEO actually is
Search engine optimisation is the work of helping Google find your pages, understand what each one is about, and show it to people searching for that thing. Google publishes how this works in its own Search Central documentation, and most of it is unglamorous: pages that can be crawled, clear titles and descriptions, one subject per page, content written for people, and a site that is fast and usable on a phone.
None of it is a trick, and none of it guarantees a position. Google says plainly that no one can guarantee a ranking. What good SEO does is remove every reason for Google to overlook you and give it every reason to understand you.
Technical SEO we set up on every site
- A unique title and meta description on every page, written to be read, within the length Google displays.
- Canonical URLs, so each page has one address and duplicates do not compete with each other.
- An XML sitemap that lists only the pages you want found, and a robots.txt that points to it.
- Structured data (schema.org JSON-LD) for your business, services, articles, breadcrumbs and FAQs.
- Clean, readable URLs and a page hierarchy that matches how people search.
- Open Graph and social cards, so shared links show the right title and image.
- Image dimensions, sensible file sizes and lazy loading below the fold, for speed and stability.
- Google Search Console set up at launch, so you can see what people search to find you.
Local search in Malta
For a business serving Malta and Gozo, the map results often matter as much as the website. Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence, and a complete, verified Business Profile is part of that. We make sure the website and the profile tell Google the same story: the same business name, the same address, the same services, with structured data on the site to confirm it.
Malta is bilingual, and some searches happen in Maltese. Google's guidance is to give each language version its own URL rather than switching language with cookies or location. If your customers search in Maltese, we plan the site that way from the start.
Content planned around real searches
Technical SEO makes a site findable. Content is what it is found for. We plan pages around what your customers actually type, then write them with you from real facts about your business. For sites that need it we build an editorial section, like the Journal on this site, where every article is drafted from named sources and read by a person before it is published.
What we will not do
- Promise rankings, or a number one position. Nobody honest can.
- Buy links, swap links or put your site in a link scheme.
- Publish pages with nothing on them just to target a keyword.
- Invent reviews, testimonials or statistics.
